Many historic events happened in Harlem, most of which were very progressive towards gaining equality. 125th Street is also a great go-to because that is the location of the 1935 Race Riots and many other landmark features in this town.

Harlem was famous for its music- the dances, the songs, the blues and the jazz. Visit these places to get a sense of what this generation grew up listening to, and you might even make connections with modern day music. Today, jazz and blues are still popular music genres.
